1. Local Business Operators and Commercial Property Owners
The Lower Lonsdale Business Association is the sum of its members. LLBA partners with local business operators and commercial property owners, collectively, to promote the Lower Lonsdale business district to increase patronage of the services and products available. We partner with them, individually, to help address specific business issues and challenges they face, whether business operating issues or helping them with proposals or advocacy to City hall on matters which may assist their businesses.
2. Lower Lonsdale Residents
LLBA focuses on working with local business owners and commercial property owners to bring more commercial business services to Lower Lonsdale so that residents have more choices and so that they need not drive to other shopping areas or malls for whatever products and services they need. We strive to enhance the reason why most Lower Lonsdale residents say they love to live in Lower Lonsdale, because: “Everything’s Here!”
LLBA also has a wonderful track record of organizing major events for the entertainment of local residents and to bring a greater sense of community identity and neighbourhood to Lower Lonsdale. Our July Party-at-the-Pier, September Fall Festival, and December Christmas Festival are enjoyed by about 20,000 people each year and provide particular opportunity for families to enjoy free events in their own neighbourhood.
3. City of North Vancouver
LLBA partners with the City of North Vancouver with hundreds of hours of volunteer work on City studies and plans, surveys and committees. We also raise almost $100,000 in private sector sponsorship for Lower Lonsdale festivals so that the financial contribution from City taxpayers is kept to a minimum. We work to help attract businesses which will add to the economic development of Lower Lonsdale and the City as a whole.
4. Property Developers
LLBA works with developers who have purchased property in Lower Lonsdale, and beyond, so that we can provide input important to local businesses and residents. Higher density along the Lonsdale and Esplanade corridors provide more business services for all City residents and provide a lower-cost home-ownership opportunity. Such developments also provide more jobs for existing and future resident. We work with developers to help ensure that the buildings they propose provide the kind of needed home-ownership and rental opportunities, and new business services.
5. Chamber of Commerce
The LLBA represents the specific interests of Lower Lonsdale and nearby business operators. The North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce represents the overall interests of the business community throughout the City and District of North Vancouver. Together, we help promote and retain existing businesses, and attract new business services which residents like to see in Lower Lonsdale.
